My Business Feels Messy – What Do I Do Next?
Here’s something I hear constantly from brilliant coaches and experts: “I don’t know… things just feel messy. Everything feels all over the place. I’m not really sure how to put it all together and structure it. So what do I do next?”
Sound familiar? You’re an expert with years of knowledge and impact, but when you started building your business, you were throwing spaghetti at the wall to see what stuck. On top of that, you want to customize everything for every client, and over time, it all gets jumbled together.
The result, you feel paralyzed because nothing feels perfect, and you can’t take focused action.
In this episode, I’m sharing the exact framework I used with a recent VIP day client who was successfully hitting $20K+ months but felt like her business was “a hot mess.” Additionally, this framework works whether you’re just starting out or already at six figures, but feeling scattered.
The VIP Day Client Who Inspired This Episode
This client has been in business for multiple years. She successfully transitioned out of corporate, replaced her income, and is steadily hitting around $20K months and above. However, she came to me feeling overwhelmed and confused.
Her exact words, “I have multiple audiences. I have too many offers, and I feel paralyzed because I don’t even know what call to action to make anymore.”
If that resonates, keep reading. This episode is specifically for you.
Why Growth Creates Complexity (And Confusion)
No matter where you are in business – whether you’re just starting, have a few clients, or you’re already having $20K months – there comes a point when growth creates complexity. Moreover, that complexity creates confusion.
I know because I’ve been there. I always say I made my first million dollars with a million offers because I kept throwing things out there, thinking I was doing the right thing. Nevertheless, eventually, I didn’t know where my energy should be spent.
The root problem is that when your business feels messy, it becomes impossible to take focused action. You’re not sure what to talk about, where to put your energy, or how to move forward.
Additionally, because you’re a high achiever and perfectionist (like most of us), if it doesn’t feel polished, you don’t want to do it at all.
Why This Happens (And Why You Need Outside Help)
When you’re inside your own business every single day, you can’t see the forest through the trees. Consequently, you need someone from the outside to help you gain clarity and create structure.
I need this too. Even though I help my clients with this exact issue, I hire people making $200K+ months to guide me in that direction. Why? Because I want to learn from somebody who is where I want to be and get there faster.
The 6-Step Framework to Transform Business Chaos Into Clarity
Step 1: Get Crystal Clear on Your Vision
The guiding question: Where do you see your life and business in three years from now? (Or if you can’t access that, one year from now?)
I need to know:
- Are you making money through one-to-one coaching or group offerings?
- Do you want to see clients all day, or do you want high-touch, high-volume, spacious, scalable work?
- What does your perfect week look like?
Why this matters: Your business model should align with your life and season of life. If you’re a parent with three kids, your business will look different than an empty nester or single person building their empire.
Personal example: Five years ago, I needed to coach more people one-to-one for experience. Now, with older kids and my husband quasi-retired, I only do two VIP days per month and focus on scalable group programs.
Step 2: Define Your Primary Business Goal
Once you have clarity on your vision, ask: What’s your primary goal in business?
- Is it to get more clients?
- Make more money?
- Be on more podcasts?
- Grow your social media following?
The reality check: Most people sit down and don’t actually know this. However, if you don’t know what your goal is, you don’t know how to measure success. Furthermore, we need a measuring stick to guide our actions – is what we’re doing taking us closer to our goal or further away?
Side note for newer coaches: I’m a huge fan of leveraging one-to-one work first. It’s much easier to find one person than 10 people at the same time. Additionally, testing your framework and confidence against one person helps you work out the kinks before scaling.
Step 3: Audit Your Offers (The Tough Love Moment)
Look at your current offers and honestly assess:
- What’s actually making you money?
- Do people even know these offers exist?
- Which ones align with your vision?
- Which ones are you actually excited about?
The hard truth: Most coaches have way too many offers. You’re not talking about all of them, and you think you need a customized offer for every single person. Instead, think “same candy, different wrapper” – especially for one-to-one work.
Less is more when you only have a few things to talk about. It makes everything very clear.
Step 4: Identify Your Premium Client
This is where we get focused. We need to know the premium client you can serve who makes sense to move through an ascension ladder.
The person who meets you at the top of your ecosystem (from free content) should be the same person who buys your premium offer.
My client’s example: She had three different lanes:
- Entrepreneurs
- Corporate women
- Personal development enthusiasts (non-entrepreneurs, non-corporate)
While her coaching could support all three, it left her paralyzed about which offer to focus on and who to speak to consistently.
The breakthrough: When we looked at what was generating the majority of her income, it became clear that her certification program was the main revenue driver. Personal development enthusiasts aren’t interested in certifications, but entrepreneurs and corporate women transitioning are.
The result: We developed a clear ascension model where one offer flows into the next, serving the same client throughout their journey.
Step 5: Align Your Calls to Action
Once you know what you’re focusing on, every piece of content becomes easy. Whether it’s a podcast, social media post, or LinkedIn content, it’s all directed toward that premium client with clear calls to action that have purpose.
No more paralysis about what to say or promote because everything aligns with your focused business model.
Step 6: Simplify Your Messaging
Instead of trying to speak to everyone, you speak only to that premium client who needs your core offer. We draw a sacred circle around your offering and say it’s only for these specific people.
What happens when you hold that space sacred:
- You deliver better results
- You attract the most ideal clients possible
- You gain confidence to charge premium prices
- You create better qualification processes
Remember: It’s equally important for you to qualify the client as it is for them to qualify you. In fact, I’d argue it’s more important that we ensure only the best-suited person comes into the right offer.
The Sacred Circle Concept
I have to hold the Best Damn Coach sacred for coaches who are already taking action and have clients. If I brought in people just thinking about starting a coaching business, they’d get lost and wouldn’t get the best results.
Similarly, I hold the Framework Builder Lab sacred for specific types of clients, just like the Small Bite Offer program. Each program serves a specific person at a specific stage.
Why This Framework Works
This six-step process helps you move from messy business to a clear, cohesive structure where you can:
- Generate consistent revenue
- Know exactly how to spend your time and energy
- Feel confident in your messaging and offers
- Attract only your most ideal clients
The Cost of Staying Messy
Here’s what I want you to understand: every day you stay confused is a day you’re not moving forward. Every week you’re paralyzed by overwhelm is a week you’re losing potential momentum.
Additionally, this is the perfect time for clarity as we head into fall and approach the end of 2025. If the summer was quiet or you’ve been putting things off, now is the time to get focused.
What Actually Creates Change
It’s not another course that’s going to make a difference. It’s not even listening to podcasts consistently or reading more books. What creates change is spending focused, strategic time with someone who can help you get there faster – whether in a VIP day or a group program like the Best Damn Coach.
Ready to Get the Clarity You Deserve?
If you’re listening to this thinking, “Amanda, are you reading my mind? I have success but want more, and I feel scattered and confused.” I’d love to support you.
This framework becomes even more powerful when it’s customized specifically for your business and situation. That’s what we do in VIP days – spend focused time getting you crystal clear and moving forward with momentum.

The Bottom Line
Your confusion isn’t actually about imposter syndrome or your business being messy. At the core, you don’t really know the exact problem you’re solving or how to talk about what you do clearly.
Once you get focused on your premium client and core offers, everything else becomes simple. You’ll know exactly where to spend your energy, what to talk about, and how to move forward with confidence.
Most importantly, you’ll stop being everything to everybody and start being the obvious choice for your ideal clients.
