The Secret to a High-Converting Coaching Website With Brad Ball

“A website isn’t an art project—it’s a marketing tool.”

Do you need a website for your coaching business? And if you already have one, is it working for you or just sitting pretty on the internet?

Today, I’ve invited digital marketing expert Brad Ball (head of Liquis Digital) to reveal the critical elements that transform a basic coaching website into a powerful client-attraction machine.

Whether you’re just starting and wondering if you need a website at all, or you’ve had one for years but it’s not generating leads, this conversation will completely change how you think about your online presence.

Why This Episode Is a Game-Changer for Your Coaching Business

Most coaches approach their websites completely backward—focusing on design over function, themselves over their clients, and features over benefits.

The result? A beautiful website that gets compliments but no clients.

After 16+ years helping businesses of all sizes build high-converting websites, Brad breaks down the exact elements your website needs to effectively drive leads and build credibility. We also explore when Facebook ads make sense (and how to start without blowing your budget).

What You’ll Learn About High-Converting Websites

  • The #1 misconception coaches have about websites (and when you actually need one)
  • Why design is overrated and what matters more for conversions
  • The three critical elements every coaching website needs to convert consistently
  • How to create a hero section that captures attention in the first 7 seconds
  • Why your “About Me” section might be killing your conversions
  • The simple Facebook ads strategy to drive traffic (even on a tiny budget)
  • The website mistake that’s costing you thousands in potential revenue

The 3 Must-Have Elements of a High-Converting Coaching Website

Element #1: Clear Primary AND Secondary Calls to Action

The first mistake most coaches make is not having a clear call to action—or having only one.

Primary Call to Action: This is your main offer (booking a call, joining your program, etc.)

Secondary Call to Action: This captures the 80-90% of visitors who aren’t ready for your main offer. Typically a lead magnet like a PDF checklist, quiz, mini-course, or short video series.

Pro Tip: Make your calls to action specific and results-oriented. Instead of “Feel more empowered, book a call,” try “Build a website that converts leads in less than 30 days, let’s chat.”

Element #2: A Hero Section That Communicates Instantly

Your hero section (the first thing visitors see) is where most coaches get it wrong—and it’s the easiest element to fix for massive impact.

Within 7 seconds, your hero section should clearly explain:

  • What you do
  • The benefit you provide
  • What action you want visitors to take

Bonus: Include who you serve and add credibility elements.

Common Mistakes:

  • Ambiguous welcome messages (“Welcome to my website”)
  • Fluffy taglines (“Live your truth”)
  • No clear call to action
  • Generic content that could fit on any website

Element #3: Benefits Over Features

Most coaches focus on features (how many Zoom calls, worksheets included, etc.) instead of benefits (what the client gets).

Remember: Features are about you and your offerings; benefits are about your customers and their transformations.

Pro Tip: Don’t put your “About Me” section right after the hero section. Start with benefits FIRST, then features, then testimonials/credibility, and finally your about section.

When and How to Use Facebook Ads for Your Coaching Website

Once your website is optimized for conversions, Facebook and Instagram ads can be the fastest way to drive quality traffic. Brad recommends:

  1. Start Small: Test with $5/day
  2. Install Your Pixel: This critical step tracks visitors and conversions (and most coaches skip it)
  3. Repurpose Top Content: Start by promoting posts that have already performed well
  4. Run Conversion Ads: Once you know what works, scale up with ads that drive specific actions

Critical Tip: Only run ads when you have confidence in your back-end conversion process (like a webinar that consistently converts).

Coaching is in my blood. I became a coach for the 1st time at 15 when I coached 4-5 year old boys in a pee-wee basketball league. I then coached the hardest crowd ever as a high school teacher and coach, then added to my coaching resume Level 1 CrossFit Coach, Precision Nutrition Coach, and now Certified Master Life Coach, NLP and hypnotherapy practitioner. I have combined my 25 years of coaching into this program to help you become a better coach.
