The 5 Real Reasons You Haven’t Signed Your Next Client

Reason #1: You’re Showing Up Perfect Instead of Real 

Too many coaches think they need to have it all figured out before they can effectively lead clients. But in today’s world, nobody wants perfect—they want authentic.

The Problem: When you hide behind perfection, you either attract the wrong clients or no clients at all. Perfect feels unattainable and robotic, which doesn’t build trust.

The Solution: Share moments of messiness. Be vulnerable. When I share real struggles in my newsletters or Instagram stories, those are always the ones that get the most replies and engagement.

Action Step: Challenge yourself to share one real, vulnerable moment with your audience each week. Watch how it transforms your connection with potential clients.

Reason #2: You’re Operating from Scarcity Energy

You might be doing all the “right” things, but if you’re coming from a place of desperation or anxiousness, potential clients can feel it.

The Problem: When you’re in “I need money, I need clients” mode, you unconsciously repel the very people you want to attract.

The Solution: Anchor yourself in service rather than scarcity. Remember that we’re in business because we solve problems for people.

Action Step: Before creating content or making offers, ask yourself: “How can I genuinely serve and solve problems for my audience right now?” This shifts your energy from taking to giving.

Reason #3: You’re Avoiding the Bold Ask 

Many coaches give endless value but never actually invite people to work with them.

The Problem: Your potential clients are busy. They don’t always know you’re accepting clients, your offers, or even what coaching could do for them.

The Solution: Make direct, clear invitations to work with you. Remember that you hold the solution to something your client is struggling with—it’s your responsibility to offer that help.

Action Step: Look at your last month of content. How many times did you explicitly invite people to work with you? If it’s fewer than 4 times, you need to make more bold asks.

Reason #4: You’re Selling Coaching, Not Results

When you do pitch your services, you’re focusing on the wrong things.

The Problem: You talk about how many sessions they’ll get, the WhatsApp access, the PDFs… and it’s all too overwhelming. Clients don’t care about the delivery method—they care about outcomes.

The Solution: Sell the transformation, not the coaching. Get crystal clear on the results your clients will achieve by working with you.

Action Step: Rewrite your offer description to focus 80% on the results and only 20% on the delivery method.

Reason #5: You’re Too Vague About What You Do 

This is THE number one reason coaches fail to launch. Your messaging is too generic and doesn’t paint a clear picture of what you actually help people achieve.

The Problem: Saying things like “I help people find success” or “I help women over 40 get healthy” is too general. You blend in with every other coach.

The Solution: Get specific about the exact problem you solve and the exact results you deliver.

The Difference: Compare “I help women get healthy” versus “I help women lose 40 pounds so they feel confident in a bikini.” The second one creates an instant, clear picture.

Action Step: Rewrite your one-liner to be so specific that when someone hears it, they immediately know if they need you or not.
