Welcome to part 2 of our 4-part series called How To Get Out Of Your Own Way in 2023.
Throughout this series, my mission is to both help you understand why you get in the way of the actual results you want and how to overcome that hurdle. While the new year is filled with goal-setting strategy and energy, in this episode I share an unpopular opinion about the real purpose of goals and the magic behind setting them.
This series leads you right up to our FREE 3-Day Live Virtual Training called: Get Out Of Your Own Way

I want to clarify Part 2 is not going to be a goal-setting session.
I am using goals to help you understand the relevancy of what the magic of goal setting really is and it has nothing to do with achieving the actual goal.
First I want to review the parts of your mind again. This is so important as a practitioner because it helps you coach from a different lens. I teach this to my BDC community often and it helps elevate their coaching competency and ability to generate results.
Our beliefs come from two places…
Our Unconscious Mind and our Conscious Mind
Conscious Mind: Goal Setter
Unconscious Mind: Goal seeker
If there is an incongruency between these two, it makes it harder to achieve your goals.
The beliefs and installations that are already in your unconscious and conscious mind may seem small but they are really BIG.
Or another problem that comes up often: Your unconscious doesn’t actually really care, it doesn’t feel important to it.
So then why does goal setting matter?
It’s actually about the journey of who you have to become in order to achieve the goal.
It is really about the journey of WHO you have to become in order to achieve the goal. It’s about the day-in and day-out action steps you have to take. Additionally, it’s about the habits you must adopt to become the person who achieves that result.
It’s literally about shifting your identity.
In the pursuit of it, we get in our way because it gets hard, life happens, and priorities are tested and challenged.
But I want to help you see you’ve already done this.
If you had a goal of getting married or starting a family.
Set a goal of becoming a runner.
Let’s tap into evidence that you know how to do this and have already done it:
I had beliefs that money was hard to make–entrepreneurship has shown me something different.
Where have you seen in your own life your beliefs shift and you realized the goal? Have you collected this evidence to support that you CAN do this?
If you haven’t had a chance to really evaluate that, be sure to tune into this week’s episode.

Thank you for being on this journey with me. I am so honored you choose to listen every week!
